PERSONAL IMPACT OF ARTS AND CULTURE

In what significant way has an experience with arts and culture influenced your life or thinking?

Since my early 20s, when my college professor and I purchased two watercolors – at $25 apiece – by an artist named Nathaniel Dirk, art has been a part of my life. But art is really about inclusivity. What’s powerful about art is that two different people, looking at the same piece of work, can see two different things. Art is about people from all walks of life coming together. It’s going to take all of us to get Baltimore on track, and Baltimore needs a leader that can bring all of us together to solve the challenges in our city.
